Seeking advice for a first-time passion project just being created by Me for now.

Dec 16, 2018

I’ve begun progress on a passion project game that I’ve had in my head for a long time now and want to make it a reality. I’m working on it solo for now as I need to get all of the ideas down on paper before any other input (although very welcome). I’m an artist and have undertaken a course in which I learned how to use such programmes as 3ds Max. Photoshop and UE4, though there is still a lot more to learn. I have already started a game design document and the project is almost entirely Sci-Fi and takes inspiration from a lot of sources.Hola VPN Private Internet AccessNordVPN

Post your gamedev-related Twitter account here and use this thread to find new people to add to your personal network.

Other devs will prefer adding your personal account, as opposed to a player-facing one, but feel free to post more than one account (and specify what they are).

Out of respect for others, keep your post short — we don’t need your life story, just a link and a short blurb! Sling TV PureVPN TunnelBear

Do this right and maybe next GDC, you’ll glance at the tiny little Twitter handle on the badge of that person you just met and realize that you’re actually long lost friends!

What is the route?

Hi there. I made a few very basic 2D games with Unity. But I used free sprites. I want to try 3D this time. But what is the pipeline? Can I make the environment in the Blender then export it to Unity? Or should I do every single object one by one and put them together in Unity? How can I make land, terrain? Is it also another object? How can I modify it quickly if I don’t like some parts of it? I think I am asking very basic things. Sorry for that. Is there a tutorial or guide you can suggest me? Or simply some info would be really useful. Thanks!

Making an indie game without any crowdfunding?

Dec 15, 2018

I just want to know if it is even possible. I say this because I want to make a game without asking for funds. Mainly because if something happens where I am no longer able to work on the game or decide to give up then I know I won’t have let people down/wasted their money.https://downloader.vip/itunes/

Secondly I want to make the game completely myself (coding, design, music etc) therefore I don’t need to hire a team (even though I know it will speed up the process)

FetLife My goal is the make an indie game in my free time and release it.

Have I missed something, what other benefits does crowdfunding bring? https://discord.software/

Personal Piece on Ludus and Paida in Factorio

esource management games come in all different shapes and sizes, from the behemoth that is Minecraft to lesser know titles such as Factorio. Let me start out by saying that Factorio is my favorite resource management and inventory simulator, largely due to the scale and fluidity of resource chains that give your factory a living breathing feeling unlike any other base building game. I have played many base building inventory Tetris games but this one has always kept me coming back. This is because factorio has the strong ability to be both a Paida experience and a Ludus experience, it is the perfect sandbox. https://thegadgetwire.com/kodi/

So before we get into why this is let’s talk about what Factorio is for those who have never experienced the game, as well as define Paida and Ludus. Factorio is a top down isometric base building game in which the player plays as an engineer that has crash landed on an alien planet. They must use resources, ingenuity and automation to create technology, build a larger base, defend themselves from aliens and then finally to launch a rocket to leave the planet. The most important mechanic of Factorio to understand is the science mechanic and how to advance it. The game has a system of “science pack” resources in which the player must create, either through automation or self crafting, science packs which can be used in a science lab to progress technology which in turn gives new crafting recipes and items. The packets are consumed by this process and therefore a steady stream of them is necessary in order to do costly research or many research options. Also note that the packs take resources to create and there are many different types, each requiring more complicated and costly recipes than the last. Let us move on to defining Paidia and Ludus. https://thegadgetwire.com/tutuapp/

Paidia is free expression in games, it is play, there is no specific goal in mind. Ludus is when play is directed, there are rules, limits and guidelines to follow, generally there is a goal and victory to achieve. So what do these two things have to do with Factorio? The first question to ask is can a game be both Ludus and Paidia or at least have elements of both? The answer is usually yes, games like grand theft auto have aspects of both Ludus and Paidia where there is an overarching story arc but lots of things the player can do just for fun if they desire, but what about Factorio? While it might be a knee jerk reaction to classify Factorio as Paidia only I think this is incorrect. Factorio is a Sandbox that blends Paidia with Ludus in a meaningful way th https://thegadgetwire.com/appvalley/

Before even getting the gameplay I cannot sync my progress between and iPad and iPhone? For this type of game I am surprised.

The gameplay itself takes me back to the days of Dreamcast. While I don’t mind the lower quality graphics these virtual controls just feel a little off. Even though I could not find any documentation the game appears to support MFi with no issues (at least not as of yet with my limited time with the game).

I do appreciate the callback to the THPS games where you would want to play the same level over and over the complete all the objectives.

I’m on a Quest to find motivated and lonely game programmers and artists…

My name Is Garrett Coy, I’m just a regular guy living a regular life in the United States, and it has long been my dream to make games. Now alone I have discovered that my talents for organizing and designing a game, are not compatible with my lack of artistic talent. This is why I would like to band together a small group of programmers and perhaps a technical artist or two, who don’t really have a place to belong, and just like to make games in their spare time. I’m open minded and if your interested I would love hearing from you. You can contact me through direct message, or better yet join my discord server so we can have a chat, and hopefully begin a journey together. Thank you for your time, I look forward to our adventures.  Minecraft Pocket Edition https://downloader.vip/counter-strike/  Google Play Services

I really want to get into Core Wars and start competing in it, but I’m basically just a single clueless newbie. If one or two or maybe even a few people joined me and we learned together, I think it would be a lot easier to get the hang of the game. Anyone interested? UC Browser SHAREit MX Player
